"Weikiva Trail Study" by Brenda Hofreiter

This little study painting was created in Weikiva State Park. I finally tore myself away from kayaking long enough to paint along one of the park trails. The path lead to a small lake and I was thrilled to see a pair of deer feeding along the way. They didn't seem to be a bit afraid of me, so they must be used to seeing park visitors!

The three palms in this study just said "painting" to me so I sat down and
painted this in early afternoon light. You can see the white sand path leading off to the left. This painting is tiny because I had to hurry to finish before the summer afternoon thunderstorms began. You can see the clouds building in the distance. I made it back in time!

I liked creating this little painting so much, I might just try a larger version later. Stay tuned!
