This painting was created on location in downtown Winter Park, FL on the corner of Park and New England Avenues. Winter Park has a beautiful downtown with a quaint European air. You can stroll down the "avenue", shop, sit on a bench in the park, grab a bite to eat "al fresco" and visit a wonderful museum of Tiffany Glass. It is one of my favorite urban places, even if it is my hometown!
This scene caught my eye because the awnings lining the street seemed so cheerful in the morning sun. I loved the way the sun lit the side of the buildings and made the dappled shadows dance and wink on the colorful brick streets. When a red car parked there, it made the perfect focal point for the painting. I'm a sucker for a red car!!
