This is a painting of the sand dunes and sand fences at Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine, FL.  It is a studio painting from a study I did during a paintout.
It is one of the places in Florida where there are still great dunes and sand fenses and I couldn't wait to capture them in oil.   I love the sea oats gleaming in the late afternoon sun and the broken and uneven fencing.  You can see for miles in the distance.  They have a boardwalk at the park that goes over the dunes to the ocean so that you don't disturb them.  This one is before the beginning of the park and I hiked out there along the beach and gotten eaten up by sand fleas doing the study for this painting.  Still... It was worth it and I plan to do another one next year.
