I created this little painting during the annual Weikiva River Paint Out in Weikiwa Springs State Park. The Weikiva River is a spring fed river and one of it's tributaries
is Rock Springs in Apopka. The spring boils up from a cleft in a cliff face and flows downstream to join with the Weikiva. If you have never been there, I recommend that you visit. This painting is of an area referred to as the Third Landing a spot where you can exit the spring if you are tubing downstream. When I was there, this part of the run was blocked upstream so I had it mostly to myself. I picked it because of the wonderful curving path of the water. I love what a beautiful color the spring water is with it's sandy bottom and the flowing ribbons of tape grass waving in the current. I spent a thoroughly enjoyable day painting here, disturbed only by the crashing of a deer through the water upstream and the occasional wondering raccoon. The sound of the clear water rushing past and the call of the birds was quite peaceful in this beautiful spot.
