"Park and New England Avenue, Winter Park" by plein Air Artist, Brenda Hofreiter

This painting shows the corner of Park and New England Avenue in downtown Winter Park, FL. With gas prices being so high, I decided to do some urban paintings of the area I live in. Winter Park is a beautiful city with lots of charm. This painting shows the red and blue awning of the Park Plaza Hotel and its fern covered balconies above Tuni's. The hotel is a popular place to stay with loads of old world charm and Tuni's is a favorite clothing boutique for the young at heart.

I loved the dappled light the trees cast on the brick sidewalk and the riot of colorful flowers in the planters. The perfumed smells of the rose garden next to me were intoxicating while I painted. The sounds of the hustle and bustle of the busy shopping district and the passing trains in the station behind me were a nice change from the wilderness quiet!
