This is Oakdale Creek at Sapelo.  It is right near the ferry dock and was one of the first creeks I saw
when I got to the island.   Its on the main road and the bridge crossing it is a favorite fishing place for the residents.  Everyone lives by the tides there and know just when it's time to throw in their fishing hooks or harvest their lobster traps!  This is painted from the edge of the bridge and I apparently was quite a spectacal perched up in the back of the truck with my umbrella painting!  At least this is the location that EVERYBODY saw me painting in!

I thought it was cool the way the dead branches wove in and out of the marsh echoing the creek and giving it a haunted feel.  The morning mist is still rising in the distant trees adding to the air of mystery.  It is high tide in the creek and an old oak bends protectively over the marsh on the right while the foreground branches appear like a gate protecting the marsh from the viewer.  Interesting and fun to create!
