"No Wake Zone" by artist, Brenda Hofreiter

This painting was completed on location along the banks of the St. Johns River in Seminole County. It was early summer and the foliage still shows some winter color. The clouds are building toward a typical Florida afternoon shower. I was captivated by the reflections in the water and the way the background faded into blue. One of the reasons I chose this view was because of the natural composition created by the winding river. The "No Wake Zone" sign marked the entrance into the old marina where I was painting and made a lovely spot of orange and an interesting reflection. The sign reminded me of watching the Manatees mating in the shallow waters near here and brought a smile to my face.
