This painting was created on location along highway US 1 in New Smyrna Beach. This is the first of a series of tidal marsh paintings that I have been working on. I love the mangroves and the wonderful colors of a tidal marsh. Sometimes the colors are so bright that they hurt my eyes. The yellow against the purple was pretty spectacular! A lot of folks pulled over to get a better look when they saw me painting. I guess you don't see too many artists sitting along the side of the road! Every time I drive by this spot it looks different to me. The time of day, high or low tide, and the seasons makes whole new compositions dance in front of my eyes. I may have to try this one again at another time of year.
