Here is another view of Lighthouse Creek at Sapelo. It is later in the afternoon and the creek is starting toward low tide. The tides at Sapelo are amazing! It was a 12 feet difference during my stay! I loved the mud banks that show during low tide, but I also wanted to get some of the cloud reflections in the creek, so I was rushing to complete it at this stage.
I loved the curve of the creek, the foreground bank and the fantastic vista across the marsh. Just about perfect!! This was one of my favorite views of the marsh and I saw many beautiful firey sunsets from here during my stay.
I did have a bit of an adventure during the creation of this painting. I dropped my paint brushes into the creek and tried to go fish them out. I had to abandon the idea though, when I got stuck knee deep in the soft mud and had a heck of a time trying to get myself out. The mud here is like quick sand and I wouldn't recommend a mud walk! If it wasn't for a handy bit of tall marsh grass to stabilize myself, I'd still be there!
