"Goldhead Branch State Park" by Brenda Hofreiter

This was the painting selected by Goldhead Branch State Park for their collection during my artist in residency. It depicts Lake Johnson which sits at the bottom of a quite impressive hill. It is what most visitors see of the park. There is a swimming concession and canoe launch here. I loved the wild flowers in the light of early morning and the mist still rising in the distant trees.

As part of my residency, I gave a little talk/presentation of the paintings I created during my stay for park visitors. Everyone I met was so nice and I got to hear GREAT bluegrass music during the festival after my presentation!
