This painting is Goldhead Branch, that is the park's namesake. The branch is created from several springs that issue out of the sides of the 64 foot deep ravine. I climbed down a ton of steps into the ravine to paint this. There is a little path that meanders around in the ravine offering several views and this was my favorite! It was very cool down there, and you could feel the temperature drop as you climbed down. This was one of my afternoon spots to paint and the light would filter down into the branch creating wonderful shadow and light patterns on the white sand.
