I saw the most interesting abandoned old cars during my trip to New Mexico.  I adore the rounded form of cars from the 1930’s and 40’s.  The only ones I’ve seen were the shiny restored ones at antique car shows.  In New Mexico,  old cars seemed to be everywhere, at the bottom of arroyos and sitting in vacant lots.   When I came across this one on the side of the road, I had to stop, snap a picture and paint a subsequent painting of it.  Of course, I fell in love with its charming curves, rust and layers of colorful paint.   To me, this old car’s presence embodied a stately elegance and a quiet dignity and it spoke about a hope filled time in our country’s history. I titled it “Forgotten” because it seemed sort of forlorn sitting there all rusted up, but its whitewall tires are peeking out through the weeds, so maybe someone is trying to restore it.  I hope so.

I think it is a 1941 Chevy, but I could be wrong.  If you happen to be an old car aficionado and know what it is, please do write to me and let me know what it is.
