"Circling Buzzards"

Plein Air Oil on Archival Canvas Board

This is a little plein air oil painting I did at Lake Woodruff Wildlife Preserve in Deland, FL.  It is early morning and you can see the morning mist in the distant trees.  It is autumn and the sun is low in the sky,  silhouetting
the mid-ground palms and lighting up the foreground.  The possomhaw,  (Viburnum nudum
) are beginning their fall bloom and you can see it in the foreground left. The buzzards,  which are such a part of this preserve, are beginning their aerial display,  circling in the rising heat of the day.  A pair of white herons have been disturbed and are flying off in the distance.  The clouds are beginning to build in the sky.  I wonder if it will rain this afternoon?
