This painting was created "en plein air" at Black Hammock Fish Camp along the St. Johns River in Seminole County. That's the 417 bridge in the distance crosing Lake Monroe. I loved the curving trunk of the old palm tree, the cypress hugging the bank and the waving reflections they made in the lapping water. The mud along the bank shows a recent drop in the water level of the St. Johns. It is early afternoon and the clouds are building in the distance. If you look really closely, you can see a little alligator in the foreground. He is hoping to get some scraps from a fisherman cleaning his days catch of fish nearby!
