This painting was created "en plein air" at Anastasia Island just south of St. Augustine, Florida. It shows all the wonderful salt marsh and tidal pools that are so common along the coastline from Florida to North Carolina. There's a little island of high ground in the distance that has become a haven for hardwood trees. I love the way the salt marsh has different colors of grasses and foliage along it's banks and the vistas seem to go on for miles. The smell of the salt marsh and the breezes from the ocean and the warm sun showing off brilliant colors are intoxicating along the coast.
